I'm towards the end of making a glass-topped coffee table.

It is for a specific position in a room that is furnished with various items of antique, mahogany furniture.

My client's request was that it should be made from old mahogany so that it would blend into, rather than stand out, in the room.

I knew that I had the case of an old square piano buried somewhere in the mill that I had held onto purely on account of the quality of the mahogany.

And I could not bring myself immediately to discard the off-cuts from its turned legs.........

.............rich-coloured mahogany....

My client will be the judge.
