When I went into the mill early this morning I found this stain on the floor.

It is bat excreta and this means that a bat had slept in the rafters above yesterday or early this morning.....

.........although he was no longer at home when I looked.


This is very good news.

It means that one Ballyduff bat at least has escaped the dreaded white-nose syndrome from Vermont!

My observation over the years is that bats do not necessarily return to the same spot to sleep each day, which is interesting - I think.
