We had an important lunch date in Kilkenny today and parked on Castle Road and, as we walked into town this simple but potent symbol of where we were caught my eye.

It would have been better still had they been left in the cleft of an ash tree which, we hear, is now an endangered species....... and you'd have to be Irish, if not from Kilkenny, to catch all the nuances of this little cameo......
