This is my first entry since I went live, the previous ones were prepared in anticipation of its launch.
'You must have at least five entries ready before you go live' said my instructor.
Getting to this point has taken time.
I guess I have been talking about, thinking about and asking about a web-site for fifteen or more years, which is roughly when computers came into my life - in terms of my own use of them, that is.
All along, the biggest impediment to getting there was ignorance. I don't know how many people I consulted or spoke to over the years but I always came away bewildered and of the view that what I was being offered, not only missed the mark, but was too expensive, or so it seemed to me.
I also thought that the bulk of 'furniture' sites were poor and static - mostly just an on-line version of a company's brochure or catalogue.
Somewhere along the line I was told, or read, that what I needed was not a website, but a 'business blog'. More confusion and so more delay because, frankly, I wasn't, at that time, too clear as what a blog was!
And then one day a very good and very old friend (and this year past, also my very best customer) told me he was writing a blog. And not only was he writing one but it was his daughter, whom I had known since she was born, who set it up for him!
They are Martin & Caitriona Dwyer
Martin in the kitchen, of his chambres d'hote in Thezan les Beziers, Herault, France that I was in the middle of building for him earlier this year
and this is Caitriona
(Forgive me Caitriona but it is the only picture of you I have to hand!)
So, once Caitriona had agreed to take me on, suddenly the proposition became possible, if not easy.
With astonishing levels of patience Caitriona has led me to where I am today.
It has taken time, but then, I have been backwards and forwards to Thezan four or five times this year to help Martin & Sile be ready to open their Chambre d'hote in the autumn and Caitriona had her baby, Fionn.
As you can see Caitriona has privileged me with a link to her legendry site where you will meet Fionn.
I will ask her tonight how I create a link to Martin's blog. - I still have much to learn.
Anyway, I am deeply indebted and enormously grateful to them both.
I'm sure the works at Thezan will feature in my blog, as will our future visits to the chambre d'hote.
By the way, it is wonderful, beautiful, the Dwyer's are great fun (we've been having it together for over thirty-five years!) and Martin is a consumate chef!
So thank you very, very much Martin, my mentor, and Caitriona, my instructor, for getting me here.
