We call this 'the new room' because, when we built-on the space back in 1986, we built it as a conservatory with an all-glass roof. We discovered, quite quickly, that it didn't give us what we had planned - extra living space. It was too hot and 'glary' in summer and too cold (or expensive to heat) in winter. So, four or five years ago we put on a well insulated slate roof, eliminated the windows on the north side and turned it into 'the new room'.
